Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs increased their toughness factor today with the reassignment of second-year forward James DeLory to the club from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and their parent club, the NHL ¬â¢s Florida Panthers. DeLory has already re-joined the Mudbugs and is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night when Bossier-Shreveport visits Texas for a New Year ¬â¢s Eve tilt against the Brahma s at the NyTex Sports Centre.
"I ¬â¢m very pleased to have ¬ËDeLo ¬â¢ back on our hockey team again this season," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "He really improved throughout last year in both playing ability and toughness, and I thought he was great for us in the playoffs. It ¬â¢s nice to have that kind of presence in our lineup and I look forward to seeing him contribute on the ice for us."
After attending training camp in Rochester this fall, DeLory was assigned to Cincinnati of the ECHL for the early part of this season. In 21 games with the Cyclones, the 6-5, 225-pounder had five fighting majors among his 41 penalty minutes before a recent AHL recall to the Americans.
DeLory led all CHL rookies with 12 fighting majors last season and totaled 78 penalty minutes in 36 appearances. He also contributed two goals (including one game-winner), three points and a +2 rating. In 11 postseason games, DeLory was +2 with 19 penalty minutes.
The Newmarket, Ontario native played four years of Major Junior with the OHL ¬â¢s Oshawa Generals, where he totaled 592 career penalty minutes. He was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and is currently on an NHL contract with the Florida Panthers.
The Mudbugs are back in action this Friday with a road game at Texas before they return home for Saturday ¬â¢s New Year ¬â¢s Day tilt against the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 pm.
