Rapid City Rush News Release

(Loveland, CO) - On Wednesday night, the Rapid City Rush doubled up the Colorado Eagles 4-2 at the Budweiser Events Center. Defenseman Riley Weselowski picked up the first multi-goal effort and game-winning goal of his career while Tim Boron stopped 17 shots to earn the win against his former team. The Rush now head home for a pair of games against the Wichita Thunder on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at 7:05pm. Tickets are still available.

The Rush earned a 2-0 lead in the first period, scoring a pair of goals less than two minutes apart. The first came 14:26 into the contest when crisp passing from veterans Colt King and Brendon Hodge set up Riley Weselowski for his first of the night. Then at the 16:03 mark, Les Reaney's charge to the goal mouth was stifled by goaltender Kyle Jones, but Derek LeBlanc backhanded home the rebound for his 12th of the season.

Near the midway point of the second, Colorado's Dylan Stanley cut the lead in half when he redirected in a Daymen Rycroft centering pass. The Rush answered back less than three minutes later on Weselowski's second of the game and third of the season. Finally, with three minutes remaining in the frame, Derek Leblanc slid a backhand shot to the goal mouth that deflected off of Les Reaney and through the five-hole of Jones. The powerplay goal gave Rapid City a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.

In the final frame, Rycroft would pick up his second point of the night on a powerplay goal with just over ten minutes left. Rycroft's goal would bring the Eagles to within two, but the Rush held on for the 4-2 victory.

The Rush finished the night with a 36-19 advantage in shots, including a 19-3 edge in the second period.

Tim Boron now moves to 2-0-0 this season while Kyle Jones was dealt just his third regulation loss and now sits at 11-3-2.

The Rush will be back in town on December 31st and January 1st at 7:05pm to take on the Wichita Thunder. Tickets are still available for both games.
