
Delle Donne, Thibault Earn AP Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. -The Associated Press named Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne the Associated Press WNBA Player of the year and Mystics Head Coach Mike Thibault the Associated Press WNBA Coach of the Year. They were selected by the 14-member panel for the first AP recognition of their careers. Delle Donne was also named to the AP All-WNBA First Team.
Delle Donne is coming off a stellar season which saw her average 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds and become the first WNBA player to join the 50/40/90 club, as she shot .515 from the field, .430 from the three-point line and .974 from the free throw line. She also recorded nine double-doubles on the season. She was the top vote-getter for this year's All-Star game, marking her sixth All-Star appearance. With Delle Donne in the lineup, Washington had a record of 25-5.
Thibault has led Washington to the best record in franchise history (26 wins). The Mystics set numerous franchise records, including most home wins a single regular season (14) as well as most road wins in a regular season (12) and total points scored in a single season (3,035). Washington averaged 9.3 three-point field goals made per game and 21.8 assists per game while shooting .875 from the free throw line, all new WNBA records.
