Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF is opening its stadium to serve as a weekly food distribution center in collaboration with DeliverLean and the Urban League of Broward County in support families in need starting Wednesday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continuing for the foreseeable future.
DeliverLean Cares, a charitable division devoted to engaging the South Florida community, will collect non-perishable food items from South Florida homes to distribute to families in need. Anyone in the tri-county area can complete the form at www.deliverleancares.com and DeliverLean's network of over 400+ drivers will pick up non-perishable items from individuals' homes within 24 hours and redistribute them to multiple community drop locations, including Inter Miami CF Stadium.
"DeliverLean, along with our charitable organization, DeliverLean Cares, is committed to feeding those in need and continuing to help the community," said Scott Harris, DeliverLean founder and CEO. "Sysco Southeast Florida and Inter Miami CF are invested in this initiative alongside us and are working to activate the community to give back and support our neighbors during this difficult time."
"We are excited to be a partner in this response at a time when food insecurity is on an unprecedented scale," said Dr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, president and CEO of the Urban League. "DeliverLean Cares is an innovative food distribution model that not only helps families put food on the table, it also gives community members an opportunity to make a difference without ever leaving their homes."
The DeliverLean initiative is a continuation of Inter Miami's commitment to support our community. Following the nationwide pause on mass gatherings to curb the spread of COVID-19, Inter Miami altered the Club's logo to encourage social distancing with the separation of its white herons, which are normally interlocked. The Club lit up the Inter Miami CF Stadium scoreboard blue for the nationwide #LightItBlue campaign in solidarity of healthcare workers at the frontlines of this pandemic.
Inter Miami has continued to find creative ways to support initiatives from home, including joining the global Twitch Stream Aid 2020 that raised over $2.7 millions for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, playing in the Twitch Rivals SuperGames ft. Fortnite for Charity in support of the Baptist Health Foundation's COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, teaming up with DJ David Guetta to stream the "United at Home" Fundraiser Concert live raising $240,000 (US) for Feeding South Florida as well as pledging a $55,000 (US) donation to The Mourning Foundation in partnership with Captain Morgan. Inter Miami's owners Jorge Mas, David Beckham and Marcelo Claure also joined the Fanatics ALL IN Challenge and the Club will soon auction Guetta's jersey with all proceeds going to Feeding South Florida.
