"Vision To Learn thanks the Delaware Blue Coats and Highmark Delaware for supporting student vision care through 'Super Sight Night'," said Ann Hollister, President of Vision To Learn. "Every child in every school, everywhere in the country should have the glasses they need to succeed in school and in life."
Vision To Learn provides a concrete solution, real hope, and a simple, yet powerful tool to help kids in need: a pair of glasses. The non-profit was founded in Los Angeles in 2012 by Austin Beutner and the Beutner Family Foundation to ensure that every child in America has the glasses they need to succeed in school and in life. The program has helped children in over 750 low-income communities in 15 states and the District of Columbia. Vision To Learn serves the needs of the hardest-to-reach children; about 90% of kids served by Vision To Learn live in poverty. Vision To Learn has provided 2,104,050 children with eye care and more than 340,000 with glasses - all at no cost to children or their families. This year another 100,000 children will be provided with glasses by Vision To Learn despite the challenge COVID-19 continues to present at schools.
"We're pleased to team up with the Blue Coats and Vision To Learn to make sure more kids have access to vision care and can realize their full potential," said Nick Moriello, president of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware.
"We really do feel basketball is our superpower," said Blue Coats President Larry Meli. "The sport has the power to bring people together and shine a light on the amazing work being done by our community partners. Our team is proud to work with Vision To Learn and Highmark Delaware in helping our young people improve their vision and succeed in the classroom."
