Del Real Delivers Victory for Roadrunners

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners got an RBI single by Pascual Del Real in the top of the sixth that led to a 6-4 victory over the McAllen Thunder Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Del Real delivered the game winning two-out hit on the twelfth pitch of the at-bat against Frank James (3-3) that allowed Tim Battle to score the go-ahead run.

The Thunder (12-26) jumped out in front in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, Gianison Rosa walked and allowed Craig Hertler to score. Henry Abad then followed with an RBI single to right field that drove in Mike Demperio giving McAllen the 2-0 lead.

Edinburg (24-14) answered in the top of the third against Frank James. Vincent Blue hit an RBI single to left field that allowed Cristobal Santana to score but a fielding error in left allowed Eric Bloom to come around and score too. With Blue at third, Wilmer Pino hit an RBI single that allowed him to score. Derek Perren then followed with an RBI double scoring Pino from first and giving the Roadrunners the 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, McAllen got an RBI ground out from Roberto Rodriguez that allowed Rosa to score from third. One out later, Hertler lined an RBI double to left field that allowed Henry Abad to score tying the game at four.

Aaron Tullo (3-0) got his third win of the season after allowing four runs in six innings pitched with four strikeouts.

The Roadrunners grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth. Battle walked to start the inning and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs and Battle at third, Del Real hit an RBI single that scored Battle. Del Real moved to second on a wild pitch and then came in to score an RBI single by Vincent Blue that made it 6-4 Edinburg.

Rusty Jones and Robert Roth combined for two scoreless innings. Roth picked up the save after getting Nick Mahin ground into a fielder's choice giving Edinburg the 6-4 victory.

The Roadrunners will be hosting a post-game fireworks show after Tuesday night's game with the McAllen Thunder. Miguel Martinez (5-2) is scheduled to face Brian Murphy (3-3) with the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
