Colts Sign Versatile Infielder Hutson

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts announced Monday they have signed infielder Ryan Hutson and placed fellow infielder Danny Hernandez on the Inactive List in preparation for their upcoming 10-game road trip.

Hutson made his Colts' debut last night. He played shortstop and reached base once on an error.

Hutson was drafted by the New York Mets last year, and played for their Rookie Ball Gulf Coast League affiliate. There he hit .205 with two home runs and 18 RBIs in 46 games. Hutson can play any infield position, but spent his entire rookie season at first base.

The 23-year-old played his college ball at the Division I University of Texas-San Antonio. Hutson hit .320 with 48 homers and 153 RBIs in 186 games for the Roadrunners. As a junior in 2010, Hutson was named the Southland Conference's All-Star second baseman.

Hernandez is on the Inactive List due to a knee injury he sustained on June 28 against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. Hernandez is expected to be out three to four weeks. There are four Colts' on the Inactive List with injuries.

Tonight the Colts play game two of a three-game series against the Abilene Prairie Dogs. It is Haircuts at the Ballpark Night, sponsored by SportClips, and a Fireworks Night, courtesy of Basic Energy.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
