Huntsville Havoc News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Havoc head coach, John Gibson, announced today that Mike Degurse has signed a five-game tryout and will be in uniform tonight when the Havoc hosts the Columbus Cottonmouths at 7:30.
Degurse has played in 523 career regular season games and scored 223 goals and recorded 182 assists. He has amassed 2,502 penalty minutes. He has also played in 68 playoff games and scored 25 goals and recorded 16 assists.
"I think we are one of the tougher teams in the league but it never hurts to get a little tougher coming down the stretch," Gibson said. "We hope having Degurse in the lineup to help police the action gives us a little more room for our goal scorers."
He played 31 games for the Havoc last season and scored seven goals and recorded seven assists. He helped lead Huntsville to league championships in 1998-99 and again in 2003-04. He also led the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to a championship in 2000-01.
Huntsville retired his number 33 at the first home game this season so he will wear number 28 in his return.
