Defenseman Robinson Signs PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the signing of Defenseman Jody Robinson to a professional tryout contract.

Robinson, 24, joins the Sound Tigers after spending most of this season with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals recording two goals, nine assists, 11 points, a team-leading +11 and 56 penalty minutes in 43 games. The 6'2'' 230-pound blueliner has also notched one assist, a +4 and eight penalty minutes in nine games with the AHL's Rochester Americans this season. The Scarborough, Ontario native had three goals, eight assists, 11 points and 82 penalty minutes in 72 games with Elmira last year. Robinson played the previous four seasons, 1997-2001, with the Mercyhurst College Lakers of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The Sound Tigers will return from the AHL All-Star break with a pair of home games this weekend hosting the Hartford Wolf Pack tomorrow at 7:35 p.m. and the Saint John Flames Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All Sound Tigers' games are broadcast live on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300 AM and at www.soundtigers.com. WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350 AM also broadcasts road games.

Saturday will be "Stratford Appreciation Night" with discounted tickets for Stratford residents who show proof of residency at the box office, a ceremonial face-off involving Town Council Chairman Robert Calzone and the Stratford High School Chamber Singers and Bunnell High School Studio Voices performing the national anthem with the colors presented by Stratford Cub Scout Pack 172 before the game.

The Sound Tigers will also will give "Young Guns" posters to the first five-thousand fans who enter Saturday's game. The "Young Guns" posters, featuring Trent Hunter and Justin Mapletoft who will sign autographs following the game, will be given away in conjunction with Success Printing, Inc. of Norwalk.
