Defenseman Jesse Cook to join Eagles roster

WINDSOR, CO – The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that defenseman Jesse Cook will rejoin the Eagles' roster in a match up against the Wichita Thunder tonight. Whether he will play for the Eagles tonight is to be determined upon his arrival in Wichita.

Cook, 6' 5", 215-pounds was called up to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins' affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) back on February 17, 2004. In 11 games with the Penguins, he amassed four points on one goal (game-winner) and three assists, and tallied four penalty minutes.

The defenseman, 24, was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Cook played in all 51 Eagles' games before he moved up to Wilkes-Barre amassing 16 points (4-12) and 118 penalty minutes as an Eagle.

The Denver native played his first professional hockey with the Lexington Men O'War in the East Coast Hockey League last season. In 54 games with the Men O'War he tallied four points (1-3) and had 48 penalty minutes.

He played his college hockey at Denver University, and in four seasons as a Pioneer, Cook had six goals and 53 assists. He also helped his team to a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Tournament title as a freshman.
