Defenseman Derek Forbort Assigned to Reign from Kings

Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), received defenseman Derek Forbort on assignment from the Kings.

Forbort, 23, appeared in two games with the Kings this season, including his first career NHL game on October 16 against Minnesota. Last season, the Duluth, Minnesota, native registered 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 67 games with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL and battled in 19 postseason contests, adding six assists, to help the Monarchs capture the 2015 Calder Cup Championship. Currently in his third professional season, Forbort skated for the University of North Dakota for four seasons and was selected by the Kings in the first round (15th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Reign close the month of October with a three-game in three-day weekend October 30-November 1.
