Defenseman Adam Comrie Selected to All-ECHL Second Team

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Adam Comrie has been selected to the All-ECHL Second Team. This is the second ECHL season ending award for Comrie, who was also named to the All-ECHL Second Team as a member of the Royals in 2012-13. Earlier this week, Comrie received the Royals' 2015-16 Most Valuable Player Award at the Fans' Choice Awards presentation.

Comrie, a sixth year pro from Great Falls, Virginia, scored fifteen goals and assisted on nineteen others (thirty-four points) in thirty-nine total games for the Royals prior to being recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League on January 21. Since that time, he has played twenty-eight games (6g-4a=10pts) with the Phantoms. Comrie's thirty-four points with Reading, which still leads all defensemen on the team, led all d-men in the ECHL at the time of his recall and was tied for twelfth most overall in the league. He was also tied for the league lead amongst defensemen with fourteen power play points (6g-8a) at the time of his recall; and his 116 shots on goal also led all defensemen in the league. While with Reading this year, Comrie, a former third round pick of the Florida Panthers in 2008, registered eleven multi-point performances. Two of his goals with the team this year were game winners.

In his first season with the team, 2012-13, Comrie led all defensemen on the Royals with thirty-three points (17g-16a) in forty-five games with Reading. His seventeen goals that year established a team record for goals in a single season by a defenseman. In 105 career games with the Royals, Comrie has racked up 39g-42a=81 points, which places him third all-time to Simon Tremblay (19g-67a=86 in 111 games) and Denny Urban (28g-54a-82pts in 117 games) in scoring by a defenseman with the team.

There are only three other players in the fifteen year history of the Royals who have won post-season ECHL awards-all three of whom were selected to the All-Rookie Team: (i) T.J. Kemp (2005-06); (ii) David Vallorani (2012-13); and (iii) Michal Cajkovsky (2013-14).

The Royals complete the regular season with a back-to-back games against the Wheeling Nailers, the first of which will be played at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, tomorrow (Friday, April 8 @ 7:35 p.m.). Friday evening's matchup can be heard live on CBS SportsRadio 1240 AM and 98.5 FM in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 7:05 pm Eastern Time. Friday's game will also be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations. Streaming audio is available free of charge on the Royals' website; and streaming video is available on a pay-per-view basis through ECHL.TV.
