
Aces Flat in Dropping 4-3 Game to Colorado

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Tyler Fiddler scored two goals and goaltender Kris Lazaruk made 31 saves as Colorado knocked down Alaska 4-3 Wednesday night at the Sullivan Arena.
Just one goal in the first period as Colorado's Jesse Mychan buried his 31st goal of the season past Aces goaltender Lukas Hafner from the right circle at the 9:19 mark. Assists on the play to Channing Boe and Kyle Ostrow. Alaska outshot Colorado 10-4 in the first 20 minutes.
Colorado quickly elevated their advantage in the second period. At4:36, Darryl Bootland scored his 15th goal of the season on the power play from Mychan and Ostrow. That was followed just 20 seconds later by Tyler Fiddler's 5th goal of the season from Kyle Kraemer and Giffen Nyren at 4:56. That goal drove Hafner from the net and Jacob DeSerres into the game for Alaska.
The Aces cut into the 3-0 Colorado lead at 8:55 of the second. Kenny Babinski settled a puck in the right circle and filtered a pass to Felix-Antoine Poulin who was racing to the net, also on the right wing. Poulin lifted a nifty backhand shot over the shoulder of Colorado netminder Kris Lazeruk and under the crossbar for his 7th goal of the season. Along with Babinski, Ryan Tesink picked up a helper. Alaska outshooting the Eagles 24-18 after two periods.
In the third, Fiddler scored what would prove to be the winning goal at 16:31. Colin Joe and Teigen Zahn assisted.
The Aces scrambled for a pair in the final minute. At 19:11, Marc-Andre Levesque stepped into a Peter Sivak centering pass and blasted the puck home from the deep slot to make it 4-2. Janick
Asselin also helped, then it was Asselin picking up his first goal with the Aces at 19:45, assists going to Justin Breton and Tommaso Traversa for the final 4-3 margin.
Colorado ended up outshooting Alaska 34-33 for the game.
