Defenders and Fisher Cats suspended in the 5th

April 20, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- The Defenders and Fisher Cats got through five innings but then were suspended due to rain Monday night.

The game was tied at zero before the rain fell and put a damper on what was a pitchers duel between Defenders starter, RHP-Brooks McNiven and Fisher Cats starter, LHP-Fabio Castro. McNiven gave up just three hits but took back seat to Castro's ten strikeouts, seven consecutive.

Both teams will resume action in the top of the sixth inning on Saturday, May 16 as part of a double header and play the regularly scheduled nine innings. There will be a thirty minute intermission then the regularly scheduled game for that Saturday will take place.

Tomorrow's game two matchup features Defenders RHP-Nick Pereira (0-0) and LHP-Luis Perez (1-1) for the Fisher Cats. First pitch is slated for 6:35pm.

Tickets for tonight's rain suspended game can be reused for a future 2009 Defenders home game by showing them at the box office. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Defenders Box Office at (860)-887-7962 or online at ctdefenders.com.
