Colorado Rapids News Release

Colorado Rapids have announced today that defender Joe Greenspan has rejoined the club and will train with the first-team until March 21. This marks Greenspan's second stint with the club after participating in part of preseason in Las Vegas while taking time out of his naval duties.

The six foot six inch defender has been assigned to the USS Sampson DDG 102, a destroyer out of San Diego, but his report date is still to be determined by the Navy. While respecting the demands of his military service, the Rapids Front Office is working with the Navy to maximize his playing time this season.

Greenspan, who has spent four years at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, was chosen with the 26th overall selection (second round) of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. The center back was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America first team and was a first team All-America selection by College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com.

In 2014, he became Navy's all-time leader in career games played with 78, finishing his four-year career with 75 starts, 18 goals, six assists and 6,627 minutes played.

In addition, Jeff Parke has also started training with Rapids. The 32-year-old defender has played for New York Red Bulls, Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders FC, Philadelphia Union and D.C. United during his tenure in MLS.
