DeFazio Agrees to Terms on One-Year Deal

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (July 2, 2012) - The New York Islanders announced today that forward Brandon DeFazio has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

DeFazio, 23, joins the Islanders organization after completing his first full professional season last year with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. The Etobicoke, ON native recorded 16 points (11 goals, five assists) and 104 penalty minutes in 66 regular season games with the Penguins, and also appeared in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games.

The 6'1, 215-pound forward made his professional debut with the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League late in the 2010-11 season after completing his four-year collegiate career at Clarkson University. In 141 games with the Golden Knights, DeFazio recorded 77 points (36 goals, 41 assists) and 176 penalty minutes.

DeFazio also played two seasons in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, splitting time between the Oakville Blades and the Milton Icehawks from 2005-07.
