Defenseman Kevin Marshall Returns for 2012-2013

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that defenseman Kevin Marshall has been signed to a one-year contract by the Washington Capitals/HERSHEY BEARS for 2012-2013. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Marshall, 23, posted one assist in 31 regular-season games with the BEARS in 2011-2012, and added two assists in five Calder Cup playoff contests. Marshall joined the Chocolate and White on February 2, 2012, after being acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Matthew Ford.

Prior to joining the BEARS, the 6-1, 207-pound native of Boucherville, PQ recorded 28 points (seven goals, 21 assists) over parts of three seasons with the Adirondack Phantoms (AHL). Marshall also appeared in ten games with the Flyers after making his NHL debut on November 21, 2011 against Carolina.

Marshall's four-year junior career featured stints with the Quebec Remparts and Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL), where he totaled 116 points (26 goals, 90 assists) and 521 penalty minutes.

Marshall was originally selected by Philadelphia in the second round (41st overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
