Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-Integrity, quality, commitment, and innovation: the values that have helped Deere & Company thrive in Waterloo for nearly a century are also pretty valuable traits in a young hockey team.
During games on Friday, January 31st and Saturday, February 1st, the Waterloo Black Hawks will celebrate the manufacturer's special heritage in the Cedar Valley by wearing John Deere-themed uniforms. Following Saturday's matchup with the Sioux City Musketeers, the unique, seventh-edition Deere jerseys will be auctioned to benefit hockey programs for local youth.
"We ask our players and staff to commit to excellence every day. It's the same spirit that the men and women at John Deere bring to their work," said Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "The Black Hawks would like to thank Deere & Company for the many ways they go above and beyond to make our community a better place to live. We hope our organization can follow their example."
Waterloo's 2014 John Deere jerseys are primarily black, with the well-known green and gold Deere logo across the chest. The United States Hockey League emblem and American flag appear above and to the viewer's left, with green, yellow, and green stripes around the waist and on the sleeves near the elbows. The Black Hawks' traditional red-black-and-white circular logo adorns each shoulder, while player names and numbers on the back of each jersey appear in gold.
Tickets for current or retired John Deere employees and their families on January 31st and February 1st will be just $7 when a Deere & Company employee ID is displayed at the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office. The Hawks host the Muskegon Lumberjacks to open the weekend, and both games will begin at 7:05 p.m. For additional ticket information, call the Hawks at (319) 291-7680 or visit waterlooblackhawks.com.
