Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- Grand Prairie AirHogs righty Nick DeBarr dominated the El Paso Diablos lineup Wednesday morning, facing just three over the minimum in a four-hit shutout as the AirHogs swept El Paso with a 6-0 win in front of a Grand Bank of Texas Education Day crowd of 3,848.

After DeBarr (2-0) tossed a perfect first, he took care of a pair of singles in the second and third with ground-ball double plays. He allowed a two-out single in the fourth and a two-out walk in the seventh and a one-out error in the eighth, while the AirHogs (5-2) built up a big lead in the second, third and fourth innings against Osvaldo Rodriguez (1-1).

Greg Porter and Brian Myrow began the second with singles, and after a David Thomas fielder's choice, Zane Chavez sliced a double to left to score Porter. Yasutsugu Nishimoto picked up his first RBI with a groundout to short to make it 2-0, and Andres Rodriguez made it three an inning later with an RBI single to left.

Myrow tripled to right to start the bottom of the fourth, and after Thomas was hit in the foot, Chavez hit a long fly to left-center for another double, driving in two more to knock out Rodriguez. Bridger Hunt finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center later that inning off reliever Colin Allen.

Having thrown just 85 pitches through eight innings, DeBarr came back out for the ninth and allowed a single to Maikol Gonzalez. But Bryan Frichter bounced into a 5-4-3 double play started by rookie Kenny Held, who had just replaced Myrow at third in his first professional inning, and Uriak Marquez grounded to second to give DeBarr the first complete game or shutout in the American Association this season.
