Grand Prairie 6, El Paso 0
Grand Prairie RHP Nick DeBarr did not need much run support in a dominant complete game shutout of the El Paso Diablos. DeBarr allowed just four hits, as the AirHogs won, 6-0. C Zane Chavez carried the load, offensively. The Bonsall, CA resident went 2-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Chavez opened the scoring for Grand Prairie in the second inning when he doubled home RF Greg Porter. In the fourth inning, Chavez doubled again to plate a pair of runs. The combined performances of DeBarr and Chavez improved the AirHogs' record to 5-2. DeBarr raised his record to 2-0 and dropped his ERA to 0.60.
Lincoln 3, Sioux City 2
Lincoln erased a 2-0 deficit in the seventh and eighth innings to defeat Sioux City, 3-2. Saltdogs 1B John Alonso provided the offensive clout with two pivotal hits. Alonso cut the score to 2-1 with a solo home run in the seventh, then gave the Saltdogs the lead in the eighth with an RBI single. Lincoln took advantage of two errors by Explorers SS Ryan Priddy in the eighth to aid the comeback effort. Saltdogs LHP Thomas Palica was crucial to the comeback, as well. His eight-inning performance yielded two runs on seven hits and kept Lincoln in the game. Despite a terrific performance, Palica was in danger of taking a hard-luck loss until Alonso propelled Lincoln to its third win of the season. The victory was Palica's first of the season and RHP PJ Zocchi nailed down his first save.
Winnipeg 11, Laredo 3
The Winnipeg Goldeyes used a seven-run ninth inning to pull away from the Laredo Lemurs in an otherwise close contest, 11-3. The Goldeyes and Lemurs were tied 3-3 going into the eighth inning, when 1B Yurendell de Caster gave Winnipeg the lead on a sacrifice fly. The next inning, five hits and a walk helped the Goldeyes tack on seven runs and distance themselves from Laredo. Winnipeg 2B Matt Cusick had a big game with the bat. He went 3-5, including two singles in the ninth inning. Cusick contributed two RBI and scored twice. RHP Kaohi Downing earned his second win of the year out of the bullpen, throwing two innings and surrendering one run.
