Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas got a big day from Adam De La Garza, going 2-4 with the game-winning RBI in the eighth inning against the San Angelo Colts for a 5-4 win over San Angelo on Friday night in front of 2,303 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Dillas reliever Tyler Pearson (5-1) got the win, pitching a scoreless eighth inning, striking out one in the effort. Colts reliever Caleb Rodgers (1-2) got the loss, giving up the two runs in the eighth to give the Dillas the lead. Amarillo closer Ramon Geronimo got his 19th save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

The Dillas took a first inning lead as Adam De La Garza led off with a single, went to second on a Joaquin Rodriguez groundout, stole third and scored on a Julio Martinez RBI single for a 1-0 Amarillo lead.

The Colts tied the game in the fourth as Ronnie Gaines led off with a single, stole second and scored on an error for a tie game. Gaines hit a two-RBI single in the fifth and scored on a Jason Landreth sacrifice fly for a 4-1 San Angelo advantage.

Amarillo climbed closer in the fifth inning as Rob Recuenco led off with a single, went to second on a pass ball and reached third on a Jermel Lomack fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. Recuenco would score on a wild pitch while Lomack stole second. Rodriguez followed with an RBI single to score Lomack for a 4-3 score.

The Dillas took the lead in the eighth as Alberto Cruz led off with a walk and went to third on a Recuenco single. Kevin Butler hit a chopper over the pitcher but the throw home was not in time to score Cruz and tie the game. Following a Lomack sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third, De La Garza grounded out to score Recuenco for a 5-4 Amarillo lead.

Geronimo came in for the ninth and shut the door on San Angelo to preserve the one-run victory.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 48-34 while the Colts fall to 39-43.
