Roanoke Dazzle News Release

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Hawks announced today they have signed Roanoke Dazzle guard Anthony Grundy to a 10-day contact, making him the 15th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2005-06 NBA Development League season and the 65th overall since the league began play in November 2001. Grundy is the ninth D-League player to earn a promotion since March 1.

When Will Bynum signed with the Golden State Warriors on March 17, Grundy moved into the D-League lead in scoring at 23.0 points per game. He has scored 1,012 points in 44 games (44 starts) this season, earning him the distinction of being the only player in D-League history to score 1,000 points in a single season. Grundy also leads the league in minutes played (39.8 pg), steals (2.5 pg), three-pointers made (101) and three-pointers attempted (256). Earlier today, he was named to the 2005-06 All-D League First Team as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Grundy spent this year's training camp and preseason with the Hawks, before being waived on October 27. The North Carolina State product (2002) has also seen professional action in Israel, the World Basketball Association (where he was named Defensive Player of the Year) and the Continental Basketball Association.
