Daytona Swept out of Clearwater

CLEARWATER, FL - Taylor Trammell hit his first home run in nearly two months in Daytona's 5-2 loss against the Clearwater Threshers Wednesday night at Spectrum Field. Daytona was swept for the third time this season.
The game's first run was scored by Clearwater in the bottom of the third. With runners on the corners, RHP Andrew Jordan tossed a wild pitch to the backstop, allowing Jose Gomez to score.
Then, in the bottom of the fourth, Raul RIvas came up with runners on the corners and hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Kyle Martin on the play, to put Clearwater up 2-0.
The Threshers added three more with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Marin came up with the bases loaded and lined a single down the right field line, scoring two to put Clearwater up 4-0. Grenny Cumana followed that up with a run scoring single to center to make it 5-0.
Brantley Bell led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run to left to get Daytona on the board. It was his career-high fifth home run of the season.
Then, in the top of the eighth inning, Taylor Trammell led the frame off with a solo homer to center round out the scoring, 5-2.
RHP Mauricio Llovera (3-7) earned the victory for Clearwater, his first since 4/21. He allowed just one run on four hits in six innings with five strikeouts. Jordan (1-2) was handed his second consecutive loss. He allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Daytona will now head to LECOM Park to begin a three game series with the Bradenton Marauders on Thursday. RHP Tommy Bergjans (2-2, 4.72) will get the ball in the opener against RHP Gavin Wallace (1-0, 4.85).
First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 6:30 PM, with coverage beginning at 6:15 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.
NOTES: The Tortugas fall to 0-30 when trailing after 8 innings... Daytona lost 9 of the 13 meetings with Clearwater this season, including five of six on the road. The Threshers outscored Daytona 68-45... Daytona has lost six of their last seven games. They have scored two or fewer runs in all six losses... This is the Tortugas second four game losing streak this season. They are 1-for-28 with runners in scoring position, leaving 30 on base during that stretch... Daytona's bullpen has allowed just 2 runs in 22 innings (0.82 ERA) over the last six games... Brantley Bell snapped out of an 0-for-17 drought by going 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk. The homer was his first since 7/11.
