Dayton Gems Hunt Down The Quad City Mallards To Win 7-5

The Gems finally met the Quad City Mallard for the first time this season with their trip to I Wireless Center in Moline, Illinois. The pucks were flying into the nets all night long. In the first 6 minutes Gems Preston Briggs and Sam Bloom both found the net and started the evening with a 2 goal lead. With less than 5 minutes left the Mallards took advantage of a power play and Terry Harrison ended the period's scoring; Dayton 2: Mallards 1. Dayton newcomer, Chris Myhro wasted no time scoring his 1st professional goal as the 2nd period began. Quad City's defensmen Perreault and Bozoian both made their way passed Mior ending the period in a 3:3 tie. In a back and forth 3rd period Dayton's Matt Auffrey pulled the Gems ahead with on 47 seconds off the clock. Mallard Lippsett tied it back up. Phil Youngclaus gave Dayton the advantage then less than a minute later Quad's Stals evened it up again. Danny LaPointe brought back the Gems' lead during a power play and with less than a minute Tim Hartung scored into an empty net. Quad City Mallards played from behind all evening never taking the lead from Dayton for a final score of 7:5. Gems are now 11/9/3/0 on the season.

The Gems continue their road trip tomorrow as they travel to Muskegon's L. C. Walker Arena to take on the Lumberjacks. Fans can go to www.daytongems.com to listen live for free at 7pm. The Lumberjack invade Hara arena for games on Wednesday, December 16th and Friday, December 18th. Wednesday the Zooperstars will entertain with their crazy mascot antics and it'll be another Dollar beer night with face off at 7pm. The Gems invite all active duty and retired military to attend Military Night with a buy 1 ticket get 1 ticket free discount. All branches will be honored. It is also Toys for Tots night - Marines will be on duty to accept your donations. Saturday, December 19th the Flint Generals head to Hara for Christmas in the Rink. Santa will be our guest - arriving Wednesday and celebrating with Gems fans during all 3 games. Bring your camera and take your turn telling the jolly old elf your wish for his holiday. All adult seats are now $10 and children 12 and under only $7 with free parking.
