
Dayton Gems Denied by the Quad City Mallards 4-1

The Dayton Gems met the Quad City Mallards tonight on home ice at Hara Arena. Both teams held their ground in the 1st with no goals scored. With only 44 seconds played in the 2nd Quad City found the net. Less than 3 minutes later the Mallards would score 2 more times. The Gems' Jon Ornelas would score just after the halfway mark of the period with the help of Pierce Norton. The Mallards would add another goal with less than 6 minutes left in the period to give Quad City a 4 -1 lead. The last period would be a defensive battle with neither team adding to the score. Final Mallards 4 - Dayton 1.
As the inaugural season draws to a close there are still Gems games and events to attend. The team is already looking forward to next season. The Gems hit the road Friday for a trip to Fort Wayne. Catch all the live action at the Gems website: www.daytongems.com. The puck drops at 8pm. This is a home to home series with Komets following the Gems back to Dayton for a Saturday evening game
On April 10th the Gems meet the Fort Wayne Komets at Hara Arena for a 730pm face off . Immediately following the game, an auction will be held where you can bid on your favorite players' away jersey. The team will autograph the jerseys and they will be available for pick up after the final game on April 16th.
The The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance of Ohio will be attending the game and would like of invite everyone to attend their annual "Step Forward to Cure TSC" walkathon scheduled for May 22, 2010 at Centerville High School track in Dayton, Ohio. On April 16th join the Gems as they play the final game of their inaugural season. It will be Fan Appreciation night at Hara Arena. The team will play the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the first 1000 fans will receive the final set of trading cards. Puck drops at 7:30pm. It's Frothy Friday so it's a night with bargain $2 drafts.
Immediately following the game an auction of the players home jerseys will be held where you can bid on your favorite players' jerseys.
Everyone's favorite mascot, Blade, the white tiger won't be taking the summer off. Blade is available for appearances simply by contacting the Gems office. On Saturday, April 24th join Blade at Carillon Park for the March of Dimes Walk beginning at 9:30am. The March of Dimes - March for Babies will support programs in our community that help moms have healthy babies and to fund research. Then May 1st head to Fifth third Plaza for the Derby Day Dash. There will be family events and a 5k run sponsored by Life Essentials to benefit the elderly of Montgomery County who need assistance maintaining independence and assuring the rights of those no longer able to make daily living and medical-care decisions. Join Blade at 9am for all the fun and festivities for a worthy cause.
