Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (April 7, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Mallards center/right wing Chris Lipsett has been named the IHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player.
Lipsett, 35, is tied for ninth in the IHL in goals (26) and ranks second on the Mallards in points (60). The Quad City alternate captain has also spent just 20 minutes in the penalty box- the second lowest penalty minute total among the league's top 25 point producers- while playing in each of the Mallards' first 70 games.
Lipsett sees considerable ice time as part of both the Mallards' power play and penalty killing units. The fourteenth year pro is tied for second on the team with eight power play goals and leads Quad City with two shorthanded goals
Lipsett has this season topped 25 goals for the eighth time in his career and for the fourth time in the last four seasons. Lipsett has now scored 330 goals and collected 347 assists for 677 points in 815 career games. The Ottawa native has played 14 teams in nine leagues on two continents since completing a standout four year collegiate career at Clarkson.
