Dayton Gems News Release

Dayton, OH -The Dayton Gems professional hockey team is proud to announce that goaltender Bryan Hogan has been named the Oakley/ Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 6, 2011.

The Highland, Michigan native was unbeaten last week in two games against Quad City, and a large reason for his team's recent success. Hogan faced 71 shots total, and stopped 69 of them (.972 save percentage), only letting in two power play goals against the Mallards.

On Friday night, the 6-0, 195-pound net minder came into the game late in the first period, after his team fell behind 3-0. The rookie responded giving his team a chance to win by turning away 22 of 23 shots propelling the Gems to a thrilling 5-4 win, Dayton's first of the year. The next night, in the re-match versus the Mallards on Cassano's Italian Ice at Hara Arena in Dayton, Hogan made 47 saves lifting the Gems to a 2-1 win in their home opener.

Gems head coach Brian Gratz praised his young goalie, saying "we are very happy that Bryan received the recognition he did for his efforts this past weekend. Being a young goaltender, I know that he is working to bring that level of excellence every game."

Hogan joins fellow CHL goaltenders Ian Keserich from the Tulsa Oilers and Charlie Effinger from the Missouri Mavericks in receiving this special award this season. In recognition of his achievement, Hogan will receive a special gift from Oakley, the official sponsor of the CHL Goalie of the Week award.
