Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY -The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (5-5) had two key defensive stops against the Arkansas Twisters (7-3) in the final quarter and defeat the Southwest Division leaders, 56-54, in front of 4,263 fans at Alltel Arena in Little Rock, AR.
Oklahoma City led 49-48 late in the game when Twisters' receiver LeJuan Edwards slipped on the turf on a fourth down pass from Kyle Rowley and couldn't secure the ball. The Dawgz scored on the very next play when QB Robert Kent found Craig Fulton, Jr. for a long TD grab and extended the Oklahoma City lead to 56-48.
Arkansas looked as if they would answer back when Rowley hit Robert Kilow in stride on Arkansas' next possession, but Kilow fumbled the ball as he was tackled. Dawgz DB Tito Jose chased down the loose ball in the end zone to end the Twisters' drive with just a few minutes left in the final quarter.
Arkansas was able to stop Oklahoma City and subsequently score on their next possession. The Twisters needed a two point conversion to tie the came, but were called for a delay of game penalty twice and forced to convert ten yards deeper. Rowley was sacked as he was flushed out of the pocket and the Twisters could not convert. Oklahoma City got the ball back and ran out the clock to secure the team's first win in over a month.
