Amarillo Venom News Release
The Amarillo Dusters started fast against the Rio Grande Dorados tonight. In quarterback Julian Reese's first drive of the season, he rushed for a touchdown to put the team on top 7-0. After a Dorado fumble and interception, Reese threw for two more touchdowns (each to Alex Watson) making the score 20-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Rio Grande battled back in the second quarter on three Nick Hill touchdown strikes. But the Dusters came up with a big stop as the half expired and headed into the locker room with a 35-21 lead.
Midway through the fourth quarter the Dusters owned a 56-34 advantage, but they saw that lead shrink to 56-48, with time winding down. Gerard Lewis came up with his second interception on the game and returned it for a touchdown to seal the deal 62-48.
The Dusters move to (2-8) on the season, while Rio Grande falls to (5-4).
