
Dawgs Sign a Pair of Rookies

Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Thursday that two rookies fresh out of college have been added to the roster. Goaltender Jacob Caffrey and defenseman Paul Fregeau have each been signed to a contract.
Caffrey just completed his college career at Stevenson University. During his senior season with the Mustangs he played in all 26 of their games, going 11-8-7 with a 2.46 GAA and .924 save percentage. He was named the United Collegiate Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Year and led the UCHC with a 1.80 GAA and .941 save percentage in conference play. The Bethesda, Maryland native spent his first two seasons of college eligibility at American International College where he was a teammate of current Rail Yard Dawgs David Gandara and Chris Porter.
Fregeau played his final two seasons of NCAA hockey at Cortland State after spending his first two with Plattsburgh State. During his senior season at Cortland, the 6'3 defenseman recorded five goals and three assists. He has also played one game for the FHL's Watertown Wolves.
In a separate transaction, defenseman Taylor Love has been placed on injured reserve.
The Rail Yard Dawgs return to the ice on Friday night in Pensacola against the Ice Flyers. Puck drop at the Pensacola Bay Center is scheduled for 7:05 PM CST.
