St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - Following a three-day break due to the Northwoods League All-Star Break, the St. Cloud Rox returned to action on Thursday night back at the Rock Pile.
Ryan Davis (Georgetown) picked up right where he left off before the All-Star Break, continuing his recent hot streak in St. Cloud. Davis led the way in the game, finishing 2-for-4 while scoring the lone run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Rox came up just short against the Rochester Honkers 2-1.
St. Cloud nearly tied things up in the bottom of the ninth inning, with runners on second and third with two outs, but couldn't quite bring the game-tying run home.
Along with Davis, Marshall Gilbert (Mississippi State) and Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) each tallied the other two Rox hits in the game, both finishing 1-for-3.
Will Warren (Southeastern Louisiana) started the game on the mound for St. Cloud, pitching six strong innings. He gave up seven hits, just two runs and struck out eight batters. John Matthews (Kent State) pitched three shutout innings in relief, giving up no hits while striking out six.
St. Cloud (9-10 second half, 25-30 overall) will hit the road for three games before returning to the Rock Pile at 7:05 p.m. Monday against La Crosse. The game will be Rox Trading Card Set Giveaway presented by Rengel Printing, Thul Photography and Design, Times Media and 1390 Granite City Sports.
