Rafters Host Chinooks in First Post All-Star Break Series

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Following the All-Star break the Rafters return to Witter Field for a four-game home stand. The Rafters will face off against the Lakeshore Chinooks tonight. The Rafters are currently 9-9 in the second half of the season and 24-29 overall, the Chinooks are 9-9 on the season as well and are 25-28 overall.

On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters were represented by five exceptional cranberry and gold at the 2018 All-Star Game played within Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The South Division beat the North Division 2-1. Three position players represented Rapids in the festivities. Brody Wofford (University of Central Florida) went 1-for-2 with a single to center in the eighth. Jack-Thomas Wold (University of Nevada-Las Vegas) was hitless and worked a walk in the fifth. Ty Duvall went hitless but only had one plate appearance in the game batting in the seventh.

On the mound, Mason McReaken (SIU Edwardsville) and Trayson Kubo (Stephen F. Austin) did the Rafters proud. Trayson Kubo came in to finish the third inning. Kubo got his first batter to strike out swinging and ended the frame with a fly ball to center field. Mason McReaken earned the win as he finished the eighth inning retiring his two North Division batters with a fly out and ground out. The five Rafters sent to the All-Star Game were tied with the Mankato MoonDogs of the North Division for second-most representatives at the event. The Madison Mallards led the league with eight players attending the game in Kalamazoo, MI.

On the mound tonight for the Rafters is Gareth Stroh. The junior from Purdue has a 3-1 record with a 2.95 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched. In his time on the hill, he has struck out 30, allowed 10 walks and 32 hits.

Pitching for the Chinooks is Jacob Lindermann. The righty from Whichita State sports a 1-3 record with a 5.06 ERA. In his 10 appearances, Linderman has allowed 8 walks and 38 hits and struck out 30.

Tonight's game first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Rafters will play three in a row at Witter Field following tonight's game.
