Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants are pleased to announce that 1999-born goaltender David Tendeck (North Vancouver, B.C.) has been selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the sixth round (158th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Selected by the Giants in the sixth round (130th overall) in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, the 18-year-old Tendeck was named a 2017-18 second-team WHL all-star. In 48 regular season appearances Tendeck posted a record of 25-16-3-2 with a .912 save percentage, a 3.02 goals-against-average and three shutouts.
"This season David Tendeck established himself as one of the best goaltenders in the Western Hockey League and we are very happy to see him selected today by the Arizona Coyotes," said Giants GM Barclay Parneta. "Dave's great attitude, competitiveness and work-ethic have played a huge part in getting him to this point and we feel that the best is still yet to come for him. We're very happy for David and his family and we feel that he's a great fit for the Arizona Coyotes."
Tendeck is the second Giant to be selected in the 2018 NHL Draft today and the second Giant to ever be selected by the Arizona Coyotes franchise. He's the second WHL goaltender to be drafted this weekend and the first Giants goaltender to drafted since Tyson Sexsmith in 2007.
