Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of forward David Hoy to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Hoy, 16, is currently playing for Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 Prep AAA (OHA) program in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). He ranks sixth on the team in scoring with eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 26 games. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound forward has skated for Okanagan's program each of the last four seasons and accumulated 93 points in 98 regular-season games with OHA.
"We are pleased to announce the signing of David Hoy, a 2007-born center with the OHA Penticton U18 team," said Winterhawks Director of Scouting & Assistant to the General Manager Mike Coflin. "This is a player whose play was recognized last season, listed as team captain of the U17 Prep team last year at OHA, and continued to progress his overall game this season. David projects as a player who will bring a competitive, physical game at center to our lineup and add valuable depth to our group next season."
The Fort St. John, B.C. native went undrafted during the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft and was later added to the Winterhawks 50-man protected list following his under-17 season. Hoy participated in the Winterhawks 2023 Neely Cup and scored four goals during the Winterhawks training camp as a member of Team Yaremchuk.
