Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys returned home Tuesday night and won their series opener in style against the Tacoma Rainiers at Constellation Field.

David Hensley belted a three-run walk-off home run, sending the Space Cowboys to a 3-1 victory in 10 innings

Hensley owns both Space Cowboys walk-off hits this season, with Tuesday's serving as the first walk-off home run for them this year. His opposite-field shot came of Tacoma reliever Matt Brash, who delivered the pitch at 98 mph.

The Space Cowboys and Rainiers were scoreless through nine innings. It marked the Space Cowboys' first game in franchise history that went into extra innings without a run scored.

Tacoma got its run on an RBI groundout from Andrew Knapp. Lewis Brinson walked to lead off the inning and Hensley followed with the game-winning drive.

The Space Cowboys pitching staff matched its season low with just two hits allowed and were one off their season high with 15 strikeouts.

Shawn Dubin got the start and struck out six batters through five scoreless. The Space Cowboys did not allow a hit following Dubin's departure.

Joe Record struck out five through two innings, and Enoli Paredes and Ronel Blanco teamed up for four strikeouts through the final three frames.

The Space Cowboys are second in the Pacific Coast League with 672 strikeouts from their staff, just one behind Sacramento.

Jake Meyers and Taylor Jones each made the 13th starts of their MLB Rehab Assignments, both going 0-for-4. Meyers started in center field and Jones got the start at first base.

Jonathan Bermudez will take the mound for game two of the series at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday at Constellation Field. The Rainiers are scheduled to start right-hander Konner Wade.
