Dave Farrish Resigns
July 7, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The Louisiana IceGators today announced the organization has accepted the resignation of Dave Farrish, the IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations.
In four years with the IceGators, Farrish's teams compiled a record of 186-78-24. The IceGators won four consecutive Division titles during that time. The high point of the Farrish era came during the 2001-02 season, when the IceGators finished 56-12-4, breaking the ECHL season records for most wins, most points (116), and highest points percentage (.806).
"With the restructuring of the IceGators organization, I felt it was in my and the team's best interest to make a move now," said Farrish. "I have opportunities in the AHL and in the ECHL which will provide long term security for me and my family."
Farrish became the third head coach in IceGators history on August 1, 2000. He added the title of Vice President of Hockey Operations in 2001. Farrish leaves as the winningest head coach in Louisiana's nine seasons with 186 regular season victories. The Gators had a post-season record of 15-19 during his tenure. Dave and his wife, Roxanne, have made Lafayette their home for the last four years.
"The last four years have been the best of my coaching career both on the ice and in the community. That is what makes this a most difficult decision," said Farrish. "We have established many great relationships with our fans, neighbors and friends in the community."
The IceGators have no immediate candidates to replace Farrish. The search for the man who led the IceGators into year 10, will begin immediately.
Season Ticket, Flex Plans, and IcePack ticket vouchers are on sale now for the IceGators 10th anniversary season. For more information call the IceGators office at (337)234-4423.
