FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco Fighters announced today that the team has signed assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Dave Ewart to a one-year contract extension. The contract will run through the 2023 season.

Having Coach Ewart back for his third season with the Fighters, second as the defensive coordinator, was priority this offseason," said head coach Billy Back. "Coach Ewart brings years of experience in many different situations from different leagues. He also brings a sense of confidence to the team with his knowledge and gave us a boost when he returned last year".

Ewart returns to the team for his second season under head coach Billy Back. "I have learned a lot from him this past season and had an absolute blast coaching along side him," said Back when asked about Ewart's return to the team. "We had the number one defense in the league last season with his calls, concepts and film study, so we are looking forward to the same this upcoming season".

The Fighters defense made 30 sacks last season for a total of 192 yards and also made 21 interceptions for 204 yards under Ewart's system.

Ewart brings over 30 years of coaching experience to Frisco. He served as an Assistant Coach with the Tampa Bay Storm for seven seasons before being named head coach where he served for three seasons. Ewart then became the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Rattlers for two seasons before moving to the Jacksonville Sharks in 2018.

The Frisco Fighters return to the field next spring for the 2023 season. Tickets will be on sale at a later date.
