
Dash's "Heritage Weekend" Celebration Begins Tonight

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AUGUST 5, 2011) - Tonight marks the start of "Heritage Weekend" at BB&T Ballpark as the first-place Dash begin a three-game series with the playoff-bound Frederick Keys. The weekend will be highlighted by the vintage Winston-Salem Pond Giants uniforms that the team will wear on Saturday night as part of the celebration of Winston-Salem's rich baseball history.
HERITAGE WEEKEND EVENT SCHEDULE:
Friday, August 5:
* A terrific fireworks show on the field at BB&T Ballpark will follow the game
* Kids will have the opportunity to run the bases following the fireworks after the game
Saturday, August 6:
* The Dash players and coaches will wear 1970s-era Winston-Salem Pond Giants uniforms during their game; the cream-colored jerseys feature the word "Giants" arched across the front in black lettering with black numbers on the back
* 20 - 25 former Pond Giants players, including former owner, player, and bat boy Nelson Petree, will be honored on the field prior to the game; Petree will throw out the ceremonial first pitch
* During the game, the Pond Giants uniforms worn by the Dash will be auctioned off; proceeds from the auction will benefit charities supported by the Winston-Salem Dash
* Three Pond Giants uniforms will be signed by the entire Dash roster and will be raffled off during the game; fans may purchase one raffle ticket for $5 or three tickets for $10
* The Dash front office staff will wear special Pond Giants polo shirts, donated by Hanesbrands
* Hundreds of Pond Giants t-shirts donated by Hanesbrands will be distributed to fans throughout the evening
* "Domino's Friends and Family Night" ticket deal will be offered; for $29.95, fans receive four tickets to Saturday's game, four Dash hats, a large two-topping Domino's pizza, and a two-liter soda
* Kids will have the opportunity to run the bases following the game
Sunday, August 7 (5 p.m. first pitch):
* Fans may purchase $1 hot dogs at concession stands throughout the night
* Kids will have the opportunity to run the bases following the game
