Danville Dashers News Release
The Elmira Enforcers extended their win streak Saturday night against the Danville Dashers in a game that saw the Enforcers score six on the night, beating the Dashers by a score of 6-2. The scoring got underway fast tonight for Elmira with Deon Dale netting his first of the night on an assist from Cal Miska. The goal was the result of some quick offensive play from Elmira, with Danville virtually unable to escape the defensive zone.
Taylor Cutting was penalized with a five-minute major for boarding and a ten-minute penalty for game misconduct with seven gone in the period. The play resulted in Cutting being ejected from the game after his hard hit on former-Dasher Ahmed Mahfouz. The lead was doubled by Jacob Walters on a power play goal, with assists being credited to Cameron Yarwood and Cal Miska.
Power plays were an often occurrence on the night, as Elmira spent 23 minutes in the penalty box. The stat paled in comparison to the Dashers 42 minutes in the penalty box. Resultingly, Elmira capitalized on three out of their ten power plays, with the Dashers finishing on one of their seven advantages.
The third goal of the night was scored on yet another power play by Deon Dale, who tallied his second of the night. The goal came on assists from Ahmed Mahfouz and Sean Reynolds. The period ended with a score of 4-0 in favor of Coach Brent Clarke and the Enforcers as Mitch Atkins netted on an assist from Ondrej Gabrhelik just six seconds before the end of the first period.
The second period was quiet in offensive terms, but saw two fights between Alex Basey and Darren Lamble, and Brandon Vuic and Preston Kugler, respectively. Stephen Gaul scored the period's lone goal of the night, on assist from Liam Little and Ryan Stayner. The goal came at even strength with 4:57 gone in the period, and the period eventually ended with a score of 5-1.
The third period saw one goal from both teams. Dustin Henning, assisted by Aaron Atwell and Stephen Gaul, narrowed the Elmira lead to 5-2 with just over eight minutes gone in the period, before Mike Chemello netted to put the game away at a score of 6-2. The final goal came with four minutes left in the third, and was assisted on by Kyle Stevens and Glen Patterson.
The stars of the night went to Elmira, as Deon Dale (2 Goals) got the first star, Cal Miska (2 Assists) received the second, and Sean Reynolds (2 Assists) grabbed the third.
Danville gets their season back underway as the Dashers will take on the Port Huron Prowlers at the David S. Palmer arena on Friday and Saturday.
