Danville Dashers News Release

The Dashers took home a win Saturday night at David S. Palmer Arena after taking down the Port Huron Predators in a matchup that was packed with offense. The game was the second of the three-game homestand between the Dashers and the Prowlers, and the crowd of approximately a thousand fans were rewarded with a game packed to the brim with offense.

The Dashers opened the game almost ten minutes in with a goal from Nathan Campbell on a power play. Zach Zulkanycz got his first of the night on assists from Dalton Jay and Matt Robertson at even strength. In what would become a theme of the night the Dashers answered back quickly off a goal from Daniel Martin five minutes later to regain the lead at 2-1.

Dalton Jay scored his fourth goal of the series and third short-handed goal five minutes into the second to even the game, but Patrick Zilak answered just under twenty seconds later after Alex Pommerville and Fred Hein combined on some nice passing.

The Dashers would extend their lead to 4-2 after Brandon Contratto scored on assists from the goal scorer Martin and Alex Pommerville. With 15 minutes gone in the second period Ryan Alves found the back of the net as Daniel Martin picked up his second assist of the night along with Nathan Pelligra.

Danville found the net early and often Saturday night, much part in thanks to that line of Pelligra, Martin, and Alves. However, it was Zach Zulkanycz who found the back of the net for his second goal of the night to cut the lead to 5-3. Zulkanycz grabbed another assist on the next goal which came with 3 minutes gone in the final period as Dalton Jay got his second of the night at even strength.

Fred Hein answered back just over two minutes later, however, and hammered home a slap shot after some nice connecting passes from Dustin Henning and Alex Pommerville. Artur Uridrosis would get the Prowlers' final goal of the night to cut the lead to 6-5.

The Prowlers fell short of completing the comeback however, as Nathan Pelligra fired home with 13 minutes gone in the third before Daniel Martin added yet another goal to ice the game at the buzzer on an empty Prowlers net.

The Dashers took the game by a final score of 8-5 on Luau Night, with Alex Pommerville, Fred Hein, and Nathan Pelligra picking up the third, second, and first stars, respectively.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow night as they go head-to-head in a Sunday matchup, playing for the series. Puck Drop is at 5 p.m. in Danville.
