Carolina Cobras News Release
GREENSBORO - Former Massachusetts Pirate Dashawn Johnson (6'4", 310) has switched allegiances, signing with Carolina for the upcoming season.
"He's a big athlete who gives us options at fullback and tight end," head coach Billy Back reports. "He's a natural offensive lineman who has transitioned well with the ball in his hands. We preach ball security and are looking for a much more productive run game with him in the back field."
The offensive lineman has played with multiple teams in the past, including the LA Kiss and the Cleveland Gladiators of the AFL, the Guangzhou Power of the CAFL, and has attended the Green Bay Packers' rookie orientation camp.
"I've been in the arena football game for sometime now and every team I've been a part of has been great from the AFL down to the NAL," Johnson says. "It helped me learn the game and taught me to be very versatile."
Johnson is a Jersey City, New Jersey, native, where he attended Hoboken High School. Following his time in high school, he attended and played football for William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.
