Dash to Host Wake Forest Baseball Game on March 1
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - On the precipice of the Winston-Salem Dash's 10th anniversary season at BB&T Ballpark, the Wake Forest baseball team will host Furman in a 6 p.m. regular season contest on Friday, March 1, at the downtown facility.
The game, which marks the first ever Wake Forest baseball contest at BB&T Ballpark, will be a part of a three-game set in which the Demon Deacons and the Paladins will play in three different locations. The following days, the two schools will square off at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, the home of the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, and Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina, the home of the Low-A Greenville Drive.
Tickets for Friday's game are $10 per person, and gates will open at 5 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the ballpark.
"BB&T Ballpark is one of the best venues in professional baseball," said Wake Forest Head Coach Tom Walter. "We are excited to enhance an already great relationship with the Dash organization and take advantage of a facility that's essentially in our backyard. Baseball in Winston-Salem is on the rise, and hopefully our partnership demonstrates that to the community."
Under Coach Walter, the Demon Deacons earned back-to-back NCAA Regional bids in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile, 30 Wake Forest players have been drafted or signed to professional contracts over the last seven years, including four among the top 50 picks in the MLB Draft.
In 2017, Wake Forest had one of their best years in program history. Former Dash star Gavin Sheets smashed 21 home runs, and Wake Forest finished one game shy of the College World Series, concluding the year with a 43-20 overall record. The Demon Deacons set program records in ACC wins (19), ACC series wins (eight) and All ACC honorees (nine).
"Over the course of its 10-year history, BB&T Ballpark has hosted a variety of unique events," said Dash President C.J. Johnson. "We are excited to add 'Wake Forest Baseball game' to that ever-growing list."
