Winston-Salem Dash News Release
Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash has teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC to strike out hunger on Thursday, September 3 when they host the Salem Red Sox at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Dash is offering a special ticket price of $5 to everyone associated with Second Harvest Food Bank and all fans that support their mission. Anyone who donates a nonperishable food item at the game on September 3rd will receive this discounted ticket offer. Food donation boxes will be provided by Second Harvest Food Bank and placed outside the ballpark.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina was founded in 1981 and opened its doors in 1982 to address the growing needs of people seeking emergency food assistance in Northwest North Carolina. Since then, they have experienced dramatic growth in food distribution, operations and programming to better serve their nearly 400 partner agencies - and the thousands of people who rely on the food they provide each year. To date, the Second Harvest Food Bank has distributed nearly 100 million pounds of food to non-profit agencies and churches that feed our hungry neighbors in 18 counties.
"Our network of partner agencies tells us that the demand for food assistance from their clients is at an average 76% increase over last year," said Second Harvest Food Bank Executive Director Clyde Fitzgerald. "We need the community's help by donating food, money and time, and we appreciate the Winston-Salem Dash's support and involvement to help us reduce hunger in the communities we serve."
This special ticket offer will also coincide with the numerous promotions taking place as part of the Winston-Salem Dash's final regular season home game. It will be Thirsty Thursday, where fans can take advantage of discounted beverages including beer for $2 and soda for just $1. There will also be a post-game fireworks show.
