
Dash Hit Their Way to Series Win

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Dash smacked 15 hits and piled up eight runs to grab an 8-2 win over Lynchburg and take the series from the Hillcats in front of a season-high 6,894 fans Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark.
Winston-Salem (24-16) plated a run in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Michael Earley reached base on an error with one out and then advanced to third on a Nick Ciolli single. Juan Silverio followed with a fly ball to right field that was deep enough to score Earley.
Lynchburg (22-18) grabbed a lead for the first time this series with two runs in the third. Braeden Schlehuber reached base after being hit by pitch to lead off the inning. The Hillcats put another runner on before a two-run single by Adam Milligan gave Lynchburg a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.
The Dash broke out the bats in the bottom of the third. Dan Wagner and Carlos Sanchez led off the inning with singles before completing a double steal. Wagner was then able to score on an infield grounder by Trayce Thompson to tie the game 2-2. With one out, Brady Shoemaker slapped his 50th hit of the seaso to score Sanchez. Thompson trotted home from third on a deep fly out by Mike Blanke to give Winston-Salem a 4-2 lead.
Brady Shoemaker singled three times to push his hit total to 52, tops in the Carolina League this season. His RBI in the third also gave him a team-high 27 RBI's on the year.
Winston-Salem held a potent Lynchburg offense to two runs on four hits. Terance Marin (1-1) allowed one hit in three scoreless innings to record his first win of the season.
The Dash added two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to extend the lead. Trayce Thompson tied Shoemaker with his 27th RBI of the season in the sixth when he singled home Daniel Wagner. In the seventh, Michael Earley tripled with one out and scored on a Nick Ciolli double.
Winston-Salem goes for the series sweep Sunday afternoon. Southpaw Spencer Arroyo (2-1, 5.97 ERA) gets the call for Winston-Salem. Lynchburg counters with right-hander Gus Schlosser (4-2, 4.32 ERA). First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
