*Wilmington, DE - *It had not happened in the first 19 seasons of Wilmington Blue Rocks (18-23) baseball, but the Rocks were finally no-hit in a Carolina League game, as Nick Tepesch and Jimmy Reyes of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (21-19) turned the feat in a 3-0 victory over Wilmington at Frawley Stadium on Saturday night.

Tepesch, who was born in Kansas City, MO and went to high school 11 miles away from Kauffman Stadium at Blue Springs High School, entered the game with a 4.86 ERA in seven starts. A University of Missouri product, he fired 7.1 innings of no-hit baseball with four walks and nine strikeouts, as he fired 115 pitches, with 68 being called for strikes.

The righty retired the first 11 Blue Rocks he faced, six of them going down on strikes before he issued a walk to *Brian Fletcher* in the fourth. He also picked up 1-2-3 innings in the fifth and sixth. He walked *Brett Eibner* with two outs in the seventh before retiring *Cheslor Cuthbert* on a groundout. With his pitch count rising in the eighth inning, he walked *Roman Hernandez* and *Kevin David* to start the frame. *Juan Graterol* tried to bunt them over but did so unsuccessfully, striking out in the process on a foul bunt attempt. That was his last batter as he gave way for Jimmy Reyes.

Reyes came on to face *Alex McClure* who represented the tying run. McClure shot a ball up the middle that was fielded by second baseman Santiago Chirino. Gliding to the outfield grass, he flipped the ball with solely his glove to Edwin Garcia at the bag, who then fired to first to emphatically end the inning with a double play.

The lefty finished off the job in the ninth inning. *Whit Merrifield*popped up to start the frame and then both *Geulin Beltre* and Fletcher struck out swinging to end the game.

*Jason Adam (1-6) *took another loss thanks to having no run support once again. He was sharp through his first five innings of work, having allowed only a walk and a hit with seven strikeouts. Trouble loomed in the sixth inning. With one out, Teodoro Martinez spanked a double down the left field line. Tomas Telis then sharply rolled one to the right side. Merrifield grabbed the ball a few steps onto the outfield grass as he scampered towards the first base side. Realizing there was no play on Telis, Merrifield saw Martinez breaking for home. He zipped the ball to David on a fly and the Rocks catcher applied the tag for the second out.

The next man in Jared Hoying dumped a ball into right field for a basehit. Running towards the infield, Beltre saw the ball bound past him. Telis did not get a good read and only got to third while Hoying pulled into second base after the error. The next batter in Brett Nicholas slammed a double down the right field line on a ball that was just out of the reach of first baseman Graterol, allowing both runs to score to make it 2-0 for Myrtle Beach.

The Pelicans added a run in the eighth thanks to a double by Tomas Telis and a pair of wild pitches from Wilmington reliever *Sam Runion* to boost the lead to 3-0.

After being no hit on Saturday, the Blue Rocks try to snag the rubber game on Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game set with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at 1:35 p.m. Wilmington right-hander *Sugar Ray Marimon (3-0, 2.65) *meets up with Pelicans righty Kyle Hendricks (1-4, 2.98). *PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:*

The Blue Rocks were no-hit in nine innings for the first time in team history on Saturday night. The Blue Rocks have thrown one nine inning no-hitter in the franchise's history. It came on May 2, 2000 when Brian Sanches went nine innings without giving up a hit against the Lynchburg Hillcats at Frawley Stadium. He struck out 11 batters and walked two in a 5-0 Rocks win.

While they had never been no-hit in nine innings, the Blue Rocks have suffered seven inning no-hitters before. The most recent one came on June 19, 2009 by Levi Maxwell of the Winston-Salem Dash at Frawley Stadium. That milestone improved his record and ERA to 2-8 and 4.82, respectively.

*Jason Adam* continues to get no run support from his teammates. Blue Rocks batters have scored 22 runs in the nine games he has started. That averages to 2.4 runs per game. Of his nine starts, he has left the game with his team trailing six times and tied twice. Only once has he left a ballgame with the lead. That came on April 23 at Salem in his only victory of the season.

The game was Adam's sixth loss of the season. He didn't receive his sixth loss until July 22 of last year when he dropped a decision at West Michigan.

The Blue Rocks have yet to pick up a series after splitting the first two games of a three-game set. So far in 2012, they are 0-3 in rubber matches
