Darren Rumble Released as Head Coach of Moncton Wildcats

Moncton - The Moncton Wildcats announced this afternoon that they have relieved Darren Rumble of his duties as head coach of the team, effective immediately. It was his 6th season as head coach.
"I want to thank Darren for his contributions to the Wildcats for the past five and a half years and wish him all the best. His efforts with the team were greatly appreciated," said Robert K. Irving, President of the Moncton Wildcats. Mr. Irving continued: "These decisions are never easy. We have a young team with a lot of potential but given the recent results, we felt it was time to make a change."
Rumble joined the Wildcats for the 2013-2014 season as head coach. During his tenure in Moncton, he compiled a regular season record of 180 wins, 169 losses, 19 overtime losses and 14 shootout losses. Rumble led the team to back-to-back trips to the QMJHL semifinals in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. After a rebuilding season in 2016-2017, he led a very young Wildcats team to the second round of the playoffs in the last year at the Moncton Coliseum.
Josh Hepditch has been named interim head coach. An announcement on a new head coach is expected in the near future. Hepditch is in his 2nd season as the assistant coach for the Moncton Wildcats.
