The Saint John Sea Dogs (36-17-1-3) came out on top and got two big points against the Gatineau Olympiques (31-13-10-2) in a Wednesday night matchup at TD Station. After going down 2-0 in the first, goals from Josh Lawrence, Brady Burns, and Ryan Francis forced an overtime that was swiftly decided by a goal from Philippe Daoust in the 4-3 win.

Nikolas Hurtubise got the win, sporting his new number 31 in the return home, making 32 saves on 35 shots. Emerik Despatie started for Gatineau, allowing 4 goals on 26 shots.

The Olympiques struck early, Donovan Arsenault scoring his eighth goal of the season 2:44 into the first period.

A slashing penalty to Philippe Daoust 22 seconds later sent Gatineau to a power play and they took a 2-0 lead that they would take into the second period off a goal from Antonin Verreault at 3:37.

Saint John received an extended power play opportunity, a double minor to Cole Cormier, but were not able to score.

Midway through the period, Cam MacDonald and Evgenii Kashnikov were sent off with offsetting roughing minors and MacDonald received an additional interference call, sending Saint John to a two minute penalty kill, which they successfully killed.

Shots after the first were 13-7 for Gatineau.

Gatineau began the second with a lot of energy, keeping the play in Saint John's zone, until a tripping call against Jonah de Simone sent the Sea Dogs to a power play. Josh Lawrence capitalized on the man advantage, picking up a loose puck in the crease and cutting Gatineau's lead in half at 12:34.

A late penalty to Gatineau's Isaac Belliveau for delay of game gave Saint John seven seconds of power play to end the period and they began the third continuing the advantage.

Shots at the end of two were 24-14 for Gatineau.

2:50 into the final frame, Brady Burns ripped a rocket of a shot and tied the game up at two.

At 12:34, Ryan Francis got on the board with a goal with his 20th of the season, and the Sea Dogs got their first lead of the night.

It was a short-lived lead and a few minutes later the Olympiques scored their third of the night, Antonin Verreault's second of the night. The goal went to a quick review, but stood as a good goal and the two teams were tied with 5:51 remaining in regulation.

The game remained tied and they needed extra time to decide the winner, but not much. 16 seconds into overtime, Philippe Daoust scored a goal from his stomach, and won the game 4-3.

Final shots were 35-26 for Gatineau.
