
Danville"S Chin Named Appy League Player of the Week

DANVILLE, VA - Second baseman Gerald Chin has been named the Appy League's player of the week for the week of June 23-29. Chin helped lead the D-Braves to a 4-1 record during the week, putting up great numbers at the plate and playing solid defense. Chin played in five games that week, missing two after being called up to low-A affiliate Rome.
Over that span Chin went 10-16, good for a .625 batting average. He also found the gap for four doubles, nine RBI, scored five runs, stole a base, and hit a home run. The Panama native amassed an on base percentage .647 and for the week had a slugging percentage of 1.063. On June 24th, Chin recorded the Danville season high for 2014 driving in four runs in Johnson City in a 7-2 victory.
With Chin on the Roster the Braves were 6-3, and won all three series against the Kingsport Mets, Johnson City Cardinals, and Greeneville Astros, outscoring opponents 61-45. Since June 28 Chin has been playing for the low-A Rome Braves, where he is hitting .313 (5-16), with three RBI and a double.
