Danville Otterbots News Release
DANVILLE, Va. - The Danville Braves are pleased to present their 2012 promotional schedule. Fans coming out to American Legion Post 325 Field will be treated to a packed promotional calendar, which kicks-off Tuesday, June 19, when the D-Braves welcome the Elizabethton Twins to town. First Pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. and marks the first time in four years the team will open their season at home. The first 1000 attendees of the Home Opener will receive a 2012 Magnetic Schedule courtesy of Lone Star Steakhouse. The June 19 game will be the third running of Sylvan Hit the Books Night. The D-Braves will pay tribute to local area students who have hit the books in an on field recognition.
The second home stand will feature the first of two Faith Nights presented by Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home. On the June 25 game, any church group that purchases tickets in advance (no discounts once gates open) will receive a special discounted ticket offer. No matter the size of the group, each ticket will be sold at a 45 percent discount for just $2.75. Fans can also enjoy pre-game live music from the Sons of Thunder. Come out to the ballpark on July 3 and enjoy a post-game fireworks show in observance of Independence Day.
Supporting charitable organizations throughout the season is very important to the team. The D-Braves have devoted a pair of home games in the month of July towards promoting Danville Veterans Memorial and Breast Cancer Awareness. The D-Braves will team-up with Danville Scion, Angus Heating & Air, and Blue Ridge Beverage to present Military Appreciation Night on July 13. The team will wear camouflage-themed jerseys, which will be sold in a silent auction during the game with proceeds benefitting the Danville Veteran's Memorial. Wrestling legend Sgt. Slaughter will appear as a special guest to help honor our military.
The D-Braves will partner with the Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center on July 28 to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. The team will wear pink-themed jerseys in a show of solidarity against this deadly disease. The game-worn jerseys will be sold in a silent auction during the game with proceeds split between the Centra Foundation Cancer Patient Care Fund and Danville Cancer Association. The team is very excited about continuing their involvement in these important community initiatives by wearing themed jerseys on the Military Appreciation and Breast Cancer Awareness Nights.
Returning to the lineup is the fourth annual Guns & Hoses Charity Softball Game, which will be held on July 14 at 4:30 p.m. Don't miss the Danville Fire Department play the Danville Police Department in a badge-on-badge game of softball. All proceeds from the Guns & Hoses event will benefit the Big Brothers - Big Sisters foundation. The tickets to the event will be the same admission price as a regular season D-Braves game. Fans can delight in a day long of baseball as each ticket is also valid for that night's game against the Pulaski Mariners at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, August 3, is the second Faith Night, which will again offer the same great ticket package and feature pre-game entertainment. In addition, there will be a Brantley Gilbert autograph guitar auction with proceeds benefitting the 2nd Chance Learning Center. The Inflatamaniacs will again make their way into town for the August 9 game. This season marks the second time the Inflatamaniacs have come to Danville. The Inflatamaniacs are a new breed of in-game entertainment. The group brings inflatable mascots that perform and provide family fun all night long.
New this season is the D-Braves Mystery Autograph Ball Night on August 17. The team will sell autographed baseballs in anonymous brown bags with all proceeds benefitting Haven of Dan River Region, which is Danville/Pittsylvania County's new Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Coalition.
Replica Hat Give-A-Way Day is scheduled for August 18. Be one of the first 500 fans through the turnstiles and get your own replica hat courtesy of Innkeeper Hotels and Daly Seven.
