DANVILLE, Va. - The Danville Braves defeated the Bristol White Sox 5-4 Wednesday night at American Legion Post 325 Field for their fourth consecutive victory in this nine-game home stand. The win marks Danville's longest win streak since a three-game stretch from July 14-16.

The White Sox got one run on three hits in their first at-bats. Left fielder Kale Kiser and second baseman Jake Brown, both left-handed hitters, in a Sox line-up stacked with lefties, hit back-to-back singles to lead off the first. D-Braves starter, Williams Perez, in his first start against the Sox this season, induced the 4-6-3 double play ball, which erased Brown from the base paths. But Perez's first inning troubles continued when cleanup hitter, third baseman Eric Grabe, did just that on an RBI single that scored Kiser and opened the scoring, 1-0. The Sox added one run each in the sixth and seventh innings.

The D-Braves couldn't solve Sox starter, Jake Cose, and he faced the minimum through five innings. He sat down 15 straight before the D-Braves wrecked his perfect game no-hitter in the sixth. Center fielder Blake Brown laced a line drive single. The Braves played the running game from there. Brown stole second on a double clutch delayed throw by Sox catcher Sammy Ayala. The D-Braves benefitted from Cose's first wild pitch of the game, which advanced Brown to third. Shortstop, Jose Peraza, hit a ball back to Cose, who, in full extension, couldn't come up with it, which allowed Brown to score and cut the lead in half. Peraza then stole his seventh base in seven attempts and the D-Braves continued their two out rally when second baseman Levi Hyams doubled him in to tie the game. On the third straight hit of the game, third baseman Carlos Franco singled Hyams home to put the Braves ahead on the scoreboard, 3-2.

But the lead was short-lived as the Sox answered in their very next at-bats. Right fielder Juan Ramirez advanced all the way to third on a Felix Marte misplay in the field. Ramirez reached home on an RBI groundout by Kiser to knot the game 3-3.

In the seventh, the D-Braves jumped back out in front. Brown drew a walk and, for the second time in the game, the D-Braves benefitted from a wild pitch with Brown on the base paths. Reliever Eric Jaffe issued back-to-back walks to load the bases for Peraza. The Sox subsequently made their second pitching change of the inning and replaced Jaffe with submariner Michael Gunter. Peraza, unfazed by Gunter's unorthodox delivery, singled Brown and Marte home to make it 5-3. The D-Braves scored all five of their runs with two outs.

The Sox rallied in their last at-bats and crept within a run on a bases-loaded wild pitch, but the rally fell short.

D-Braves starter Williams Perez turned in his second quality start of the season. He went 6.0 strong innings and allowed two runs (both earned) on a season-high eight hits. Long relief man, Jeremy Fitzgerald, allowed one run (unearned) on one hit in 2.0 innings out of the pen.

It's Thirsty Thursday tomorrow at the ballpark. Fans can enjoy discounted fountain and draft beverages courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings. Lucas Sims, the Atlanta Braves' first round selection in this year's First-Year Player Draft, will get the nod for the D-Braves. Euclides Leyer will get the call for the Sox. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and gates will open one hour beforehand.
